"Goth King"
Eight people. One Goth Girl. Zero apologies. That’s the recipe behind Goth King, directed by bassist-turned-filmmaker Spencer Rosenfeld and co-edited with cinematographer Henry Schwabe. With just a single 8-hour shoot day and a background in “amateur filmmaking,” the team somehow pulled off a music video that looks anything but amateur.
Rosenfeld: “It started with the idea of having the band playing their hearts out to one, judgmental Goth Girl”. Two months of prep boiled down to this judgmental stare from the Goth royalty herself, Hannah Franzen. Spencer calls the bridge his favorite moment: the Goth Girl finally melts, lead singer Alex Nordlund wins her over, and guitarist James Miller seals the deal with an epic, gravity-defying solo jump. Pure cinema, with eyeliner.
The message? Go all out, be unapologetic, and chase what you want — even if it’s the approval of a single Goth Girl in the front row. That’s filmmaking spirit in its rawest form, and Goth King wears it proudly.
